Benton and Franklin Counties are located in the southern part of the Columbia Basin of Central Washington. Franklin County’s population is approximately 60,500 with a land mass of just over 1242 square miles. Benton County's population is approximately 152,00, with a land mass of 1,703 square mile. The Franklin County and Benton County area is an important irrigated agriculture region with a wide variety of horticultural and agronomic crops. Crop sales in Franklin and Benton Counties in 2002 totaled $297,450,000 and $366,342,000 respectively from over 2200 farms.
