Horticultural information in this document was originally intended for the central region of Washington state. The region generally has alkaline soils, less than 15 inches of precipitation per year, and is located in USDA Hardiness Zone 6-7. The area is characterized by low humidity, hot summer conditions with intense sunlight, and occasionally severely cold winters with limited snow cover.
